A Review of Bird Pest Repellent Systems in Farms

This paper presents an appraisal of methods and devices employed for autonomous bird pest control in agriculture. Pests cause millions of dollar worth damage to the agricultural sector annually. The current pest bird pest control methods used in agriculture have been examined and devices appraised. A discussion of bird response to deployed devices is then presented. Using natural bird predator is one of the effective methods used for bird deterring, but since the predators cannot be controlled, designing artificial predators or systems that act like predators is the focus of most systems reviewed. A conceptual system was proposed with emphases on the use of offensive strategy when designing an effective bird deterrent system.
